The TRC Cases Inquiry was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on the 29th of May 2025, to determine whether attempts were made to prevent the investigation and prosecution of apartheid-era crimes.
The Inquiry is chaired by retired Constitutional Court Judge Sisi Khampepe, who is assisted by retired Northern Cape Judge President Frans Diale Kgomo and Advocate Andrea Gabriel SC.
IMPORTANT ROLE OF WHISTLEBLOWERS
Important to the Inquiry’s work is to establish the reasons why cases that were referred to the South African Police Services for investigation and to the National Prosecuting Authority for prosecution by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission never made it to court.
The Inquiry will depend heavily on those with information and knowledge for help.
Whistleblowers who work (or worked) for any of these agencies can help the Inquiry to uncover the truth.
